About the New Producers Academy 

The New Producers Academy (NPA) is a project of the Otredad foundation – non-profit organization supporting non-fiction and fiction producers from a diverse background in The Netherlands. Our mission is to find, nurture, educate and support the initiators of tomorrow’s stories – producers.

Who is responsible for processing personal data?

The Foundation Sichting OTREDAD is responsible for processing insofar as personal data are processed. Your privacy is of great importance to us. We therefore comply with the relevant laws and regulations on privacy, including the General Data Protection Regulation (AVG).

What does this privacy statement apply to? 

This privacy statement applies to the processing of personal data in course of our activities, including the use of our website NEWPRODUCERSACADEMY.NL and any services offered on it. With this privacy statement we want to inform you about the way in which we handle personal data. 

What personal data do we process?

When using our services, data is processed that we have obtained because you have used our services and / or because you have provided the data to us. In some cases, this data may also be personal data.

This concerns personal data such as your name, telephone number and email address, but can also concern other personal data that you actively provide to us, for example by correspondence or by telephone.

We also automatically collect certain information when you visit our website. Consider, for example, your IP address, the date, and time you use our services, and information about the hardware and software of your computer or mobile device. This information typically concerns general information, such as the operating system, the internet browser used, the versions of the application and your language settings. We can also collect information about your click behavior and which pages are displayed.

For what purposes do we process personal data?

NPA may process (personal) data for the following purposes: 

  • To perform a contract 

This includes, for example, the provision of our services or the provision of certain information requested by you. This may also include accounting purposes such as payment processing, billing, audits, verification of payment details etc. 

  • To keep you informed of our latest news and our products and services 

We may notify you of interesting news and similar NPA products and services, for instance via an email newsletter. We will give you the opportunity to unsubscribe with every newsletter. 

  • To assess your application and to inform you of the status of your application 

If you apply for a specific service or activities, such as a fellowship or workshop, we can use personal information to assess whether your application meets the requirements of the specific services or activities. We can also use your personal information to inform you about your application.

  • To inform you about personal offers;

If you have indicated to us that you wish to receive certain information. We may use your personal information to provide you personalized offers. We will give you the opportunity to unsubscribe from such offers in every offer we will make. 

  • Improvement of our services: 

We may use personal data for statistical or analytical purposes and to improve our services. We can use this data for testing and troubleshooting purposes, and to generate statistics about our services. The main goal is to understand how our services are performing, how they are used, and ultimately to optimize and customize our services, making them easier and more meaningful to use. We strive as much as possible to use anonymous or pseudonymous data. 

  • to comply with legal obligations and to comply with our legitimate interests 

 

We can use personal data for collection, fraud screening, safety, security, and legal purposes, such as handling disputes and complying with applicable laws and regulations.

We base these processing operations on the legal basis that the processing of personal data is necessary for the execution of a contract, in particular to assess, complete and/or manage your application and for reporting or accountability purposes. In addition, we base the processing of information on legitimate interests to provide information about and to improve our services. When personal data is used for these legitimate interests, we weigh your rights and interests with regard to the protection of your personal data against our rights and interests. With respect to complying with legal obligations, we base this processing on the basis of compliance with legal obligations (such as legal enforcement requests).

Finally, we use your consent as a basis for the processing of personal data. This consent can be freely withdrawn at any time. The withdrawal of consent has no effect on the lawfulness of the processing of the personal data before the consent was withdrawn.

How do we share your data with third parties?

As a general rule, we do not share personal data with third parties. In case we use data processors, we have made agreements with the parties that obtain personal data that state that sentences are obliged to adequately protect your personal data.

For the processing of payments, we use the services of the payment provider Mollie (www.mollie.com). If you use Mollie’s services, (personal) data may be processed. such as your name, your bank account number and the name of your bank. For sending out newsletters we use MailChimp. If you subscribe to our newsletter, (personal) data may be processed such as your name and/or emaladress. MailChimp’s privacy statement can be found https://mailchimp.com/legal/.

We transfer personal data to law enforcement authorities to the extent that this is required by law or is strictly necessary for the prevention, detection or prosecution of criminal offenses and fraud, or if we are otherwise legally obliged to do so. It may be necessary to further disclose personal data to competent authorities in order to protect and secure our rights or property or the rights and properties of our business partners.

Which cookies or similar techniques do we use?

Our website uses so-called technical and functional cookies. In addition, we use analytical cookies that are set in such a way that they do not infringe on your privacy.

You can opt out of cookies by setting your internet browser so that it no longer stores cookies. In addition, you can also delete all previously stored information via the settings of your browser.

Transfer of personal data outside the European Economic Area 

In principle, we do not pass on personal data to (legal) persons outside the European Economic Area(“EEA”). If we decide to do so, we will ensure that personal data is only passed on if this is permitted on the basis of the applicable (European) privacy rules, for example because the country in question offers an adequate level of protection or if there are other appropriate safeguards.

How do we protect personal data?

NPA takes the protection of your data seriously and takes appropriate measures to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorized access, unwanted disclosure, and unauthorized modification. If you have the impression that your data is not properly secured or there are indications of abuse, please contact us via [email protected].

If we find a data breach, we will report this to the Dutch Data Protection Authority. In addition, if necessary, we will contact the data subject within the legally stipulated periods.

How long do we keep your data?

NPA stores your personal data for as long as necessary for the above processing purposes or to be able to comply with its legal obligations.

For example, if you apply for specific services or activities, we will keep this information at least until we have assessed the application and informed you about the outcome of your application. 

Changes to this privacy statement

This privacy statement is subject to change. In that case, we will publish the amended privacy statement on our website, after which this privacy statement will take effect immediately. The last update of this statement is mentioned hereunder.

What about your rights with regard to your personal data?

You have a number of rights to maintain control over your personal data, for example the right to view the personal data that we process about you. An overview of your rights can be found on the website of the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

Exercising these rights is free of charge for you, except for abuse. You exercise the rights by contacting us using the contact details below. In principle, we will answer your questions/requests within one month. In the unlikely event that the answer to your question/request takes more time, we will inform you about this within one month. Due to the complexity of the requests and/or the number of requests, the total response time may be up to three months. We may ask for further proof of your identity for all questions/requests. We do this to prevent us from providing personal data to the wrong party or wrongly making changes to the personal data or the way in which that personal data is processed by us. In order to ensure that the processing of your request runs as smoothly as possible, we therefore ask you to send a copy of your proof of identity in advance. 

Please note that there may be circumstances that prevent us from responding to a particular request. We will always assess each request on its own merits. If we do not (or cannot) respond to a certain request, we will of course make this known to you with motivation. 

Under the GDPR, you also have the right to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (AP) about how we handle your personal data. More information can be found on the website of the Dutch Data Protection Authority
